Suitable for beginners or near-beginners (A1 &A2) who want to Aim on speaking, listening, and practical day-to-day Irish (Gaeilge). It balances core phrases, grammar lightly woven in, and cultural context. (90 minutes class)

Week 1 – Getting Started / Greetings

  • Aim: Building confidence with basic exchanges.
  • Topics:
    • Saying hello and goodbye (Dia dhuit / Slán).
    • Introducing yourself: name, where you’re from.
    • Asking "How are you?" and simple replies.
    • Polite words: please, thank you, sorry.

Week 2 – Daily Life & Small Talk

  • Aim: Everyday conversational tools.
  • Topics:
    • Talking about the weather.
    • Asking about someone’s day.
    • Numbers 1–10 for simple use.
    • Saying yes/no, agreeing/disagreeing.

Week 3 – Food & Drink

  • Aim: Ordering and socializing.
  • Topics:
    • Asking for food and drinks.
    • Vocabulary for common items (tea, coffee, bread, soup).
    • Useful phrases in a café or pub.

Week 4 – Home, Family & Friends

  • Aim: Talking about personal life.
  • Topics:
    • Family words (mother, father, brother, sister).
    • Talking about where you live.
    • Simple possession (my house, my friend).

Week 5 – Getting Around & Directions

  • Aim: Practical travel communication.
  • Topics:
    • Asking for and giving directions.
    • Vocabulary: left, right, straight, near, far.
    • Transport words (bus, train, car, walking).

Week 6 – Sharing Opinions & Wrapping Up

  • Aim: Expressing yourself more freely.
  • Topics:
    • Saying what you like/dislike (food, music, weather).
    • Talking about hobbies and interests.
    • Review and integrate weeks 1–5.

Refund Policy

Fees are paid in full on enrolment and are refunded if course does not run. The college reserves the right to close a course and refund fees by electronic transfer. All other courses must remain viable and be self-financing: therefore NO REFUNDS, under any circumstances, are available once a course has commenced. A participant will not be permitted to commence a course unless it has been paid for in full prior to commencement.
