Course Description

This one-year foundation programmes designed to prepare students for higher education or direct employment by combining business management and marketing principles with human psychological insights.

An understanding of psychology in business and the workplace can lead to increased productivity, employee satisfaction and the success of a business in the competitive marketplace.

Business sustainability is about how businesses can succeed in the long term while also caring for people, society, and the environment. This course introduces students to how modern businesses balance profit with social and environmental responsibility in a competitive global marketplace.

The course also helps students develop important skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing them for further study and future careers in a business world.

This programme leads to a business award that links to a wide range of courses through the CAO, including the BSc in Sustainability in UCD (DN240)

This course provides graduates with a QQI Level 5 Business Studies Major Award 5M2102.

*Fundamentals of Sustainability is delivered in the classroom through a certified Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). This will complement the QQI 5M2102 award

Entry Requirements

QQI L4 or equivalent for all Level 5 courses.
If the Leaving Certificate has been completed, details should be submitted with your application.
Mature learners may be exempt from the academic requirements.
First round offers will be made in May to all eligible applicants with subsequent offers made in September.

Work Experience

Learners complete a block of 10 days’ work experience. Many Graduates obtain employment as a result of their work experience placement. Work experience will be in the area of Administration, Reception or Customer service environment. Work placement for Erasmus + students is arranged in business firms or professional offices or in Erasmus + partner organisations in Tenerife.

Progression

This course leads to a career in areas such as general business, accounting, banking, insurance, marketing, management, administration, retail and computing. Many of our graduates continue their education at level 6 – 8 in Mullingar Community College, AIT or NUI Maynooth or work as administrators in Local Government, HSE, schools and local businesses.

Through the QQI FET Links Scheme-Graduates can apply entry to Year 1 of related courses in the Business area in Universities and many business and other courses in Institutes of Technology with continuity of grant if applicable. Examples of linked courses include
