Theory is important, but practical experience is paramount. Our program ensures you have the opportunity to work directly with individuals with special needs, gaining first-hand experience that will set you apart in your career, through our work experience program.

Entry Requirements: Learners should have gained QQI Level 5 Component Certificate Special Needs Assistant or equivalent to gain entry. Garda Vetting and Work experience of 30 hours will be required.

Assessment: In order to demonstrate that they have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence identified in all the learning outcomes, learners are required to complete the assessment(s) below.

Skills Demonstration 50% The candidate is required to conduct a needs/strength analysis on a child. They will then recommend and carry out two activity plans based on a thorough analysis of the child’s needs

Project 50% The candidate is required to carry out research on the current provision for an additional need of their choice
