This QQI level 5 certified course offers a broad and comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of digital photographic production. It will develop practical, critical, and academic skills of value to the learner pursuing further education or seeking employment in any area in which a basic knowledge of digital photography would be an advantage.




Course Content:

The Camera:

• Demonstrate the functions of the principal components of a digital camera and/or digital SLR camera.
• Take a series of photographic images demonstrating composition, perspective, tone, shape, form and space.
• Define concepts such as lens aperture, shutter speed, focus, depth of field and ISO sensitivity.

Post-Capture Production:

Plan software manipulation techniques, use digital editing tools, resize, sharpen, colour change, image reconstruction using RAW, Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Affinity Suite

Digital Photographic Storage, Printing, and Presentation.

The course concludes with an exhibition of learners' portfolios.

You will require a Digital SLR camera and laptop with photo editing software to complete this course.




There will be an extra charge of €20 for assessment and certification by QQI if required.
