Health Science (including Pre Nursing) 5M4349
Students on this one-year programme will gain practical experience in healthcare clinical settings which, combined with an insight into theories relating to the nursing profession, will enable them to deliver high standards of care.
This course aims to provide the student with the necessary knowledge and experience to continue on to a nursing career at third level. It will provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to work as a Healthcare Assistant in hospitals and in nursing homes.
All applicants will be considered. If the Leaving Certificate has been completed, details should be submitted with your application. Mature learners are most welcome to apply and may be exempt from the academic requirements. First round offers will be made in May to all eligible applicants with subsequent offers made in September

This course provides graduates with a QQI Level 5 Nursing Studies Major Award 5M4349. First Aid Responder (PHECC), Manual Handling and People Handling and Child Protection Certificate are also available.
Graduates of this course are eligible for consideration for academic progression routes in Nursing Degree Programmes, Social Care and Early Childhood Studies and related Health Studies in Third Level Institutes and colleges in Ireland. Applications through UCAS will enable students to access a range of Scottish and UK Universities.
