6th year students Aoife Woods and Amy Allard received exciting news recently that their project had been selected for the prestigious BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin.
There was a record number of applications this year with only 550 projects (including MCC’s) selected from the over 2,000 that entered. Their project involved investigating sphagnum peat moss as an alternative to commercial flower foods.
Preliminary results indicate it performs as well as commercial flower food, if not better. The project has excellent potential and the students acquitted themselves well at the event.
