  • Parents' Council
  • Home School Link - Parent Group
  • Parents' Room (Containing a parents library)
  • Classes for parents in the school
  • newsletter - Printed periodically
  • Parent/ teacher meetings for all classes
  • Parents receive written reports of the progress of their son/ daughter twice yearly
  • 3rd year information meetings
  • Junior certs celebration evening
  • Leaving certs graduation/ Awards evening
  • Open Evening - Information on subject choices and school facilities
  • Parents' Handbook - Published by the school and given free of charge to all parents of first year students

The Department of Education and Science introduced the Home/ School/ Community Liaison scheme for second level schools in 1991. The scheme is a preventative one aimed at supporting students who are at risk of not reaching their full potential within the education system.

The scheme is concerned with establishing partnership and collaboration between parents and teachers in the interests of the children's learning. It is based on the principle of partnership between home, school and community.

The coordinator of the scheme at our school is Ms Angela Bowe and she is available to help parents with all aspects of their child's education. Home visitation is seen as a crucial element of this scheme, establishing bonds of trust between home and school. Angela tries as far as possible to visit all parents of first year students, in their own home.
